Designs
for banners, posters and signs can be printed on a variety of
materials depending on its usage:
Plastic
material for inside/outside usage, paper, sticker or UV boarding
which is a type of lightweight plastic.
This poster/banner was printed on
thick paper and stuck internally on shop window:

sticker then applied to a plastic board for an external lighted sign, 3m wide:
UV boards are lightweight and
rigid, so can easily be placed on a wall, hung, or displayed in a
frame:
